INCREDIBLE MID 19TH CENTURY FUDOGS

These fudogs are dated between the years 1840 and 1860 making them real antiques. They are Japanese and measure 10 1/2" long X 10 " in height. They are painted in original polychrome paint. One fudogs ear is poorly restored and needs to be redone. Also a tassel is slightly broken. These are very hard to come by.  Click here to see a picture. FUDOG CANDLESTICKS

These candlesticks are unmarked but appear to have age to them. I do think along the way someone repainted them. They have hollow mouths which go down to the bottom. There appears to be some kind of charcoal substance stuffed in one of them and also some is in the other. It appears that the gold paint is going over the charcoal substance. These are small,  3 1/2" high X 3 1/2" long, and have a powerful presence. I am not sure of the material that they are made of. Click here to see a picture.  Hit back on your browser after viewing.
